Aegri Somnia by Nuukeer Aegri Somnia by Nuukeer
Worked on this for a while, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.

Original resolution: 8800 x 7200 px.

EDIT: Made some smaller changes on the flare, saturation of some elements.

Hi Nuukeer : )! Just wanted to let you know that I've featured this beautiful piece in a song that I helped create: "Singularity - Horizon Unplugged (ft. Nilu and Rucas)"

Keep up your absolutely breath-taking work. Your art takes me to another place.

what do you typically use as textures?

Nasa photos. Look for the blue marble, massive textures at close to 4 gigapixels. Photos of clouds (available at Nasa) are also useful. I plan to make textures myself, from photos I have taken (as I now have a very good camera). I have applied textures that I have created in Apophysis as well, although not in my recent pictures here.

Hmm i couldn't find any that are 4 gigapixels but I did find some that are about 10-20 megapixils, could you provide me a link to the ones that are 4 gigapixels?

Look here: [link], which leads to many images, such as [link] where you can download the eight 21600x21600 tiles that make up that four gigapixel image.

Did you use a fractal program at all for parts of this? Also for the top picture did you use only one texture? It's a really awesome picture.

8800 x 7200?! :faint: how do you make stuff this big? if my pics were that big my pc (not to mention myself) would just die!

I love the piece btw, I'd darken the bottom right of the starfield though, it doesn't really blend with the moon / planet

I love all the amazing little details, but those blue glows around the planets are distracting IMO and I agree with AC117 i think it needs more empty space, but those aren't deal-breakers - it's still very high quality work :)

It needs a little more open space yes. I personally don't find the aurora effect distracting. :P Thanks!

A beautiful representation of the celestial bodies that flow through space. The detail upon the planet looks outstanding and the nebulaeic remnants as they fade in and out of the solar light look beautiful.

The only thing that puts me off are the triangular lens flare effects near the star. I'm not sure if they were intentional, but to me it just feels out of place and sort of tinges the atmosphere of the piece. Other than that, the piece is lovely. :D

Thank you. The triangles are part of the lens flare, so they were intentional.

Ah, well then I guess I refute my previous statement in regards to them. Still, they do nothing to detract from the entire composition. :D
