Just something random I made. Made other sun rays and so on. I think those planets look good, perhaps the lighting is a bit from the wrong angle, and that foreground planet has a little too much contrast...

Thanks. I randomly thought about this technique a few days ago. Really simple, just run the clouds filter, then you motion blur it many, many times. Then you add a linear mask. On a new layer, dot a few white fuzzy brushes, set the layer to overlay, to get highlights near the edge.
